Binagoongan

One of my specialties and truly a Filipino dish.... Binagoongan. There were so many ways to cook this dish and this is my version. It is also taste Bicol express because of the coconut milk.  I really like spicy foods, so when I cooked this dish I make sure that its really hot!!! Well, because I'm pregnant I refrain myself of eating spicy foods as my OB's advice ( poor me :(  ) It is very easy to cook. Just saute garlic, onion, and ginger... Add the pork, chili (siling panigang and you can add also siling labuyo to make it even spicier) and bagoong or alamang, followed by coconut milk... Simmer for awhile then add the eggplants.... Simmer for another 10 or 15 minutes and ready to serve... I add also some malunggay leaves to make it even more nutritious, Happy eating food bloggers...

Food Trip @ MOA

It's fun, fun, fun Friday... Greetings to all my fellow food bloggers... Have you been in Mall of Asia? I'm sure your answer is yes ;) And of course, when you're there you won't miss the chance to see and stroll the baywalk. A couple of months ago, with our friends we had couples night out and we decided to have a food trip at MOA. We did the marketing first and we chose Aling Tonya's Seafood Palutuan to cook the seafoods that we bought.  And these were the foods that really made our tummy big (especially our husbands LOL)

         Butter-Garlic Shrimp

  Stuffed Squid

Tempura
Enseladang Mangga

If you will notice, my shots were half eaten already. I think you know why hihihihi!!!! Actually, we also  have Sinigang na Maya-Maya sa Miso but I forgot to take a shot :) All the foods were really taste great especially because the seafoods were fresh and the restaurant really cooked it deliciously...  Have a nice weekend everyone!!!

Nutritional Needs Before Conception

I was married for a year ago and having a child is what Me and Hubby wish for. Although I have PCOS, I'm not loosing a hope that I will bear a child since I read so many testimonials from the net and from real life stories that they were successful after having medication. And now, I'm a month delay on my period and I just vomitted this morning which just some of the symptoms of being pregnant. Well, I'm not yet considering myself as pregnant unless I will take a pregnancy test. But I'm still waiting for another week before I'll do a test. I also browse the net to find a nutritional foods to eat before conceiving. And so, here it is:

Nutrition is important not only for the expectant mother, but for the mother who is planning to try to conceive.  By making sure that your nutritional stores are at their best, you can help to increase the chances that your pregnancy will be a healthy and successful one and that your baby will be at less of a risk for problems.
Each day prior to conception, you should try to eat a nutritionally balanced diet.  You should have the following each and every before conception:
You should get 2 to 3 servings of foods that are rich in calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or low-fat milk.
You should have up to seven servings of vegetables and fruits, two of which should be rich in folic acid.  Foods rich in folic acid include spinach, broccoli, orange juice, and lentils.  One of your fruits or vegetables should be high in vitamin C, including oranges, papaya, kiwi, or cantaloupe.

To get a significant enough amount of protein, you should have lean meats such as poultry or other lean meats.
You should have at least six servings of whole-grain foods, such as oatmeal, brown rice, or whole wheat bread.
Be sure to get plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.  This will also help to increase the amount of cervical mucus that you produce, which is a key component of conception.
In addition, many women choose to begin a prenatal vitamin prior to conception.  A supplement that has at least 400 mcg of folic acid and 18 mg of Iron generally will work best.  Taking these types of supplements can help to reduce many sorts of birth defects.  Some studies suggest that these vitamins can reduce birth defects by as much as 70%.

If you use caffeine, it is helpful to reduce or stop your caffeine intake before conception.  Some studies show that taking more than 300 mg of caffeine per day can negatively impact fertility.  In addition, caffeine may hinder the ability of your body to absorb calcium and iron.

Sweet and Sour Parrot Fish

" Whooooaaaaa!!!!" that was the word that we uttered when this dish was laid down in our table. This was our diner in our first day at Puerto Galera. The restaurant served live seafoods and you will just make turo-turo and they will take care of the rest. It was my first time to taste that large size parrot fish and  I can say that the meat was tasty and tender plus the sauce, surely you will call the waiter again for extra rice. Happy weekend ahead everyone!!!
