Thirst Quenchers

Summer is finally here... Not only just a summer, the El NiƱo phenomenon were starting to make our lives miserable. But Filipinos were born survivors. I believed that we will surpass this predicament just like the other natural calamities. So to beat the summer heat, I want to share some thirst quencher recipes that I browsed from the net. I just chose those tropical fruit that are available in the Philipppines. And here they are....

CREAMY MANGO SMOOTHIES

2 mangoes, seed removed, peeled and chopped (2 cups)
2 cups mango sorbet
2 containers (6 oz each)  French vanilla yogurt
1 1/2 cups fat-free (skim) milk or soymilK

HOW TO DO?
1. In blender, place all ingredients. Cover; blend on high speed until smooth.

Did You Know?
Mango adds vitamins A and C, and the yogurt and milk add calcium and vitamin D.

For the best flavor and color, choose ripe mangoes; look for skins that are yellow with blushes of red.

STRAWBEERY- ORANGE SMOOTHIES

2 cups creamy vanilla yogurt
1 cup strawberries
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon honey

HOW TO DO ?
1. In blender, place ingredients. Cover, blend on medium speed until smooth. Add more honey to taste if desired.
2. Pour into 3 glasses. Serve immediately.

WATERMELON - LIME  SPRITZER

8 cups Cubed Seedless Watermelon
½ cups Fresh Lime Juice
3 Tablespoons Sugar
Sparkling Or Soda Water

HOW TO DO?
1. In a food processor or blender, puree cubed watermelon until smooth.
2. Add lime juice and sugar; process until all ingredients are combined.
3. To serve, fill a glass about 2/3 with the “base” of the spritzer. Fill the remaining 1/3 of the glass with sparkling water (leaving enough room for ice). Stir and add ice.

PINEAPPLE ORANGE DRINK

6 cups orange juice
2 cans (8 ounces each) unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
16 ice cubes

HOW TO DO?
Place half of the orange juice, pineapple and ice cubes in a blender; cover and process until smooth. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Pour into chilled glasses. Serve immediately.

I think 4 recipes are enough to share, I hope my dear readers can try one of them. Please let me know ;) As for me, I think I will try the creamy mango smoothy since mangoes are in season today.

My Passion

These are my Passion: La Germania gas range, Elba electric mixer and some baking utensils. I really want to bake but I can't  because I don't have that in my kitchen. At this time, I don't have yet enough money to buy those three.Knowing that those appliances and utensils were very expensive. But, I'm sure with myself... Someday I will buy those three. Wish me luck ;)
